On 1 December of this year, LIFE Awards 2020 awarding ceremony took place, where LIFE_PHIPP project (LIFE17 ENV/LV/000335) was nominated for the award in the category “Most Significant Contribution to Environmental Protection”, which involved also 9 other projects of LIFE programme.
Traditionally, LIFE Awards events are organised on site; however, due to restrictions adopted for containment of COVID-19 infection, this year the awarding ceremony took place remotely. The event was participated by representatives of projects and other interested persons, who had a chance to participate and comment interactively on Facebook platform.

- PROJECT WITH THE GREATEST IMPACT
LIFE_PHIPP project, implemented by SIA Balticfloc, was nominated in the category “Most Significant Contribution to Environmental Protection”.
Also other 9 LIFE projects, which implement/ed their activities in 2020, were nominated in this category.
The project’s significance is evaluated by a panel of judges, after becoming acquainted with the activities planned within projects, and the achieved results, ranking projects by their significance. Projects were also evaluated by the following criterion: territorially most extensive project, where projects were ranked by their intended most extensive nature/environment/climate protection activities in the territory of Latvia.
In the nomination “Most Significant Contribution to Environmental Protection”, the main award was won by LIFE Fit for REACH project.
This project is international, so it covers an extensive area of activity, and the contribution of this project to environmental protection was also voted for by the panel of judges.
