Balticfloc welcomes FitforREACH-2 project Partners

On March 12, 2024, a meeting between
participants of the LIFE program project "LIFE
FitforREACH-2 – Chemical Risk Management and
Alternatives Assessment" and representatives of
SIA Balticfloc took place at the Balticfloc
production facility in Cēsis. The purpose of the
meeting was to review the activities carried out so
far within the project and discuss future plans.
Among the participants were representatives of
the Baltic Environmental Forum – Agnese Meija-
Toropova and Valters Toropovs, representatives of
the "Eco-Design Competence Center" – Nameda
Belmane and Dana Mūza, as well as representatives from SIA Balticfloc – Zane Sērmaukša and
Ēriks Nordens.
During the meeting, participants toured the SIA Balticfloc production facility and
familiarized themselves with the results of the company's previously implemented projects.
Balticfloc representatives presented the work completed so far in the LIFE FitforREACH-2
project and reviewed planned activities. With input from experts, the individual project plan,
the initial situation assessment questionnaire, and the list of chemical substitution alternatives
were revisited, providing answers to unresolved questions.
The project's goal is to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Latvia, Lithuania,
Estonia, and Poland that use hazardous chemicals in their products or processes. The project
places great emphasis on improving chemical risk management within companies and replacing
hazardous substances in industrial processes.
The project is financed by the European Union's LIFE program and the Latvian State
Regional Development Agency (VRAA).
More information about the project can be found at www.fitreach.eu.
The project “Chemical Risk Management and Alternatives Assessment: Tools and Best Practices to
Support Circularity, Create More Sustainable Products, and Avoid Unwanted Substitution” (LIFE
FitforREACH-2, Project No. 101113947 – LIFE22-ENV-EE-LIFE) is co-financed by the European Union's
LIFE program and the State Regional Development Agency.

Balticfloc kicks – off new LIFE programme project FitforREACH – 2

In October, a new LIFE program project began – "LIFE FitforREACH-2 – Chemicals Risk
Management and Assessment of Alternatives: Tools and best practices to support circularity,
create more sustainable products and avoid regrettable substitution," where Balticfloc is
one of the 16 partners. The project involves 16 companies and organizations from Latvia,
Lithuania, Estonia, and Poland. From Latvia, the participants in the project include the Baltic
Environmental Forum, the Eco-design Competence Center, LASUA, as well as three
manufacturing sector companies – SIA Kvist, SIA Kinetics Nail Systems, and SIA Balticfloc.

From October 24 to 26, 2023, the LIFE FitforREACH-2 project's kick-off meeting took place in
Tallinn. The goal of the project is to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Latvia,
Lithuania, Estonia, and Poland that use hazardous chemical substances in their products or
processes. The project places a significant emphasis on improving chemical substance risk
management in companies and substituting hazardous substances in industrial processes.

We eagerly anticipate the implementation of planned activities to enhance chemical
substance management in the company and replace hazardous chemical substances. The
waste sector is also involved in the project, contributing to assessing how to identify
hazardous substances in waste and how this information can change waste sorting and
processing practices.

The project is funded by the European Union LIFE program and the State Regional
Development Agency (VRAA). More information about the project can be found on the
website www.fitreach.eu.
