Wastepaper recycling

According to statistics, paper consumption and hence the wastepaper amount per capita in Latvia makes 78 kg per year or in total about 170 000 tons of paper annually. In comparison, it means that each Latvian resident annually consumes so much paper as obtained from one tree. The annual operations of Balticfloc result in recovering of such an amount of cellulose fibre, which allows protecting the whole forest from felling.

By recycling wastepaper, there is saved energy, preserved forest areas, reduced amount of emission to air and water consumption, as well as the total amount of dumped waste. Paper can be recycled several times.

It is estimated that the processing of one ton of wastepaper saves on average almost 4m³ of timber. It means that the processing of one ton of wastepaper saves 12-14 adult trees.
